The Problem. The Idea. The Journey. 2 Years Later
In the summer of 2024, during his transition from high school to college, Founder Burton Liu encountered a problem he had experienced countless times, but never truly stopped to question.
One summer night, Burton’s dad asked him to pick up his younger brother from baseball practice. As he grabbed his phone, wallet, and keys and stuffed them into his 5-inch inseam shorts, the frustration hit immediately.
Bulky pockets. Constantly taking things in and out. Even losing one of his essentials under the seat.
At that moment, Burton realized something:
The three things we carry most were never designed to work together.
As Burton entered college, the problem became even more obvious.
Going to the gym. Heading to events. Meeting friends. Going out at night.
Life moved faster—and carrying your essentials separately became more frustrating than ever.
That only made one thing clear: There had to be a better way.
That night sparked an obsession.
Burton began studying wallets: how they were built, what features actually mattered, and what made a product genuinely useful.
His goal became clear:
Create the best phone wallet possible.
A system that could combine your phone, wallet, and keys into one seamless everyday carry.
The first prototypes were built with whatever Burton could get his hands on.
Old wallets. Glue. Carabiners. And tons of hardware parts from The Home Depot.
He tested ideas, broke prototypes, made improvements, and kept refining.
With every iteration, one goal stayed the same:
Build something simpler, smarter, and more useful.
Two years later, after nine design iterations, countless hours of testing, and feedback from friends, family, and everyday users—
KRUCE was born.
Not just as a product.
But as a belief that the products we carry every day should be designed with purpose.
